## National Leadership
He will serve as vice chair in 2025 under Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly, positioning him to lead Democratic efforts in candidate recruitment, messaging, and fundraising for the 2026 gubernatorial elections when 36 states will be electing governors.
## 2026 Budget Priorities
In his January 2026 State of the Commonwealth address, Beshear laid out his final budget proposal as governor, which includes:
- Nine-figure investments in infrastructure
- Affordable housing initiatives
- Teacher raises
- "Pre-K for All" program
- Full Medicaid funding
## Future Ambitions
